NCHE Position Statements

What follows are four statements issued by NCHE during the past year, which address the need for governmental action to remedy the decline of history instruction caused by the NCLB legislation. First is a statement of the problem, "Crisis in History," issued in response to a request from the U. S. Senate. The second, third, and fourth are policy statements, which indicate how instruction in history can be included in various aspects of NCLB: Teacher Qualifications, Assessment, and Measures of Yearly Progress.
