NCHE is a leader in the development and implementation of professional development programs for teachers across the United States. Our model combining the talents and skills of a historian, education specialist and master teacher provides teachers with a rich blend of historical content and pedagogy that can be translated back into the classroom.

Advocacy
In the fast-changing world in which we live, we cannot take for granted the future of history education at the national level.  NCHE is a leader in working with Congress on critical issues such as the future of TAH funding, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and the Common Core.

State Councils
All history education is local! More than 24 state councils scattered across the country work actively to deliver rich history-based programs and engage in state advocacy to ensure that history continues to be taught everywhere.

The Annual Conference
“Fun and stimulating” is how one attendee described the annual conference held by NCHE in the late spring of each year. Bringing together historians, teachers, college and university faculty, and museums/libraries/archives, the annual conference is one of the best professional learning experiences available for history educators.
